The contact paper will fit over the surface of a 12” (30cm) square board or an 11” square board if you want to fold the ends of the contact paper down to cover the sides of your board. 
The contact paper comes with an adhesive side, which you can expose by peeling off the protective layer on the back, much the same as you would a sticker. Then simply line up your board and stick it on, ensuring there are no creases. Then, if you are wanting to cover the sides of a square board, cut a small slit in each corner of the contact paper and fold it down. 
If you only wish to cover the top, then flip your board over so that the contact paper is on a flat work surface, then using a craft knife, cut around your board to trim any excess. This technique is ideal for round, hexagon and heart shaped boards.
